This smart and customizable program is designed to provide public schools with an intelligent communication messaging system that notifies parents/guardians and law enforcement authorities of a student’s truancy and school events. It is unique because it provides a confirmation that a message was received by the intended recipient. If a confirmation is not received, AMS attempts to reach the recipient in numerous ways (home, office, mobile, pager, PDA, fax or e-mail) until a confirmation is received. When necessary, AMS can also implement this procedure to involve local law enforcement agencies.

Based on the historical records Neoris will assist the schools in launching a campaign of awareness to target areas.

How Does It Work?

• Classroom attendance is tracked by an automated student attendance application that can run in all schools within a specific school district.

• Teachers record student attendance at the beginning of every class using bubble sheet technology.

• AMS queries for truant students at a specified time-interval and issues a truancy alert based on the student’s contact plan, a predefined list of contact methods and numbers/addresses for parents, grandparents, and guardians.

• This information is kept on file within the District’s mainframe systems and is updated online by parents, via the School District website.

• These contact plans include numerous contact points (home, office, mobile, etc), contact methods (in a sequence, simultaneously), and contact devices (telephone, cell phone, PDA, email, text messages, pager, fax, etc.).

• The parent specifies which contact point should be used first in the event a truancy alert is issued for their child. Then, the parent specifies the contact method and device with appropriate supplemental information.

• Parents are required to confirm receipt of the truancy alert. If the alert is not confirmed, AMS escalates the truancy alert to the next contact point and device in the contact plan until the appropriate parent or guardian confirms the truancy alert. Students do not have the ability to receive or confirm truancy alerts to prevent them from intercepting and/or deleting the messages.

• Simultaneously, AMS issues truancy alerts to local law enforcement assigned to the particular area of each student by integrating with law enforcement communication systems. This allows law enforcement officers to search for truant students and visit their homes for further investigation.
