SUB HEAD: A Portfolio of Proven Breakthrough
Products
The Clo-Sur P.A.D.
The Problem:
Closing a puncture site is a time-consuming and uncomfortable
process in most catheterization procedures: Patients must
wait in a recovery area setting for several hours before
hemostasis and ambulation is achieved. Clinicians must spend
a lengthy time applying digital pressure to the puncture
site. Safety issues for patients must be addressed. Performance
of current closure devices is less than ideal. Ease of use
– many closure devices can only be used by trained
and experienced clinicians. Cost – closure devices
now add significantly to a laboratory’s costs.
Scion CV’s Simple Solution:
The Clo-Sur P.A.D.TM (Pressure Applied Dressing) accelerates
hemostasis, resulting in better patient outcomes and more
cost-effective utilization of catheterization lab personnel.
The Clo-Sur P.A.D.TM uses the proven cell binding activity
of PolyprolateTM as a hemostatic agent. The porous Clo-Sur
P.A.D.TM has been carefully designed to maximize surface
area and speed the natural clotting process. As a non-invasive
approach, the Clo-Sur P.A.D.TMis easy to apply to the puncture
site. This simple application can be completed by a nurse
and does not require a physician to be present. It reduces
clinician hold time and allows patients to be moved into
a recovery area and discharged more rapidly in most cases.
SCI-PRO
The Problem:
Unfortunately, many coronary by-pass patients
develop blockages of the saphenous vein grafts (SVG) or
have cerebrovascular disease and are not candidates for
endarectomy. These patients are often treated with angioplasty
and/or stents to remove blockage and increase blood flow.
These procedures introduce the risk of neurological events
(e.g. stroke) due to the creation of emboli during the procedure.
Scion CV’s Simple Solution:
The Sci-Pro distal protection device provides distal
protection from emboli that are released during angioplasty
or stent placement. The purpose is to remove any emboli
that are created from progressing to major organs like the
heart or brain. Given the less invasive nature of catheterization
procedures, the future use of stents in SVG intervention
and CAS is more likely. The ability to provide adequate
distal protection has been demonstrated successfully and
shows clinically significant results.
M-BOLUS
The Problem:
Fibroids are a benign tumor of the uterus. They are not
cancers. However, they do have a rich blood supply and cause
bleeding and pain. Fibroids are also known by the names
LEIOMYOMA UTERI, LEIOMYOMA, or MYOMA. 50%-80% of women have
fibroids, which are the most common indication for hysterectomy
(the most frequently performed major surgical procedure
in the U.S. ).
Scion CV’s Simple Solution:
M-Bolus LP microspheres for the embolization of
hypervascular tumors and arteriovenous malformations have
been developed to offer a unique combination of features:
Spherical, Compressible Spheres: M-Bolus LP microspheres
are ideally suited to the flow dynamics of the blood stream.
In addition, they are hydrophilic and can be temporarily
compressed. These qualities combine to facilitate smooth
passage through micro-catheters and blood vessels to the
target area, helping ensure effective occlusion (blockage).
Precisely Calibrated Sizing: M-Bolus LP microspheres are
available in a range of sizes, allowing the interventional
radiologist to select spheres to precisely match the diameter
of the blood vessel at the desired point of occlusion.
Pre-filled Syringes: All M-Bolus LP microspheres are supplied
in a closed-system pre-filled syringe to facilitate preparation
and efficiency during the procedure
Color Coding: The plungers of the pre-filled M-Bolus LP
syringes have been color coded to facilitate preparation
and minimize the risk of incorrect size selection
