QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
On
this page, you’ll find all of the answers to typical questions
I am asked about my services. If you have a particular question
that is not listed here, please feel free to contact me. I would
be glad to address whatever questions you may have.
WHAT AM I LIKE TO WORK WITH?
I'm not a prima donna, back stabber, or phony. I treat people,
in and out of work, the way I want to be treated. I'm a pretty
nice guy, have a great sense of humor, and typically land up becoming
lifelong friends and business partners with everyone I work with.
One thing I cannot stand is a yes man and I'm as straightforward
and as real as they come. I take pride in being professional in
all of my endeavors and attack every project with absolute
passion. I'm reliable - if I quote you a price, agree to
a deadline, promise you anything, I live and die by sticking
to it - every time.
HOW MUCH DO I CHARGE?
Compared to others with my level of experience, I am very affordable. I typically bill by the project instead of by the hour. For each project, I charge a firm, upfront, fixed flat fee. This way, you know exactly what my work will cost in advance without any surprises. If you want to compare my pricing with an hourly rate, my fees generally would fall in the $50/hr. range (depending on the scope of the project). All estimates are provided free of charge.
WHAT ARE MY TERMS?
All estimates must be signed and received prior to the commencement of any project. I require a 50% deposit before any work can begin. The balance is invoiced and due upon delivery of final approved work. Also, all quotes include two rounds of revisions, as long as they are not based on a change in the assignment made after my copy is submitted. Additional revisions are billed separately.
WHAT METHOD (S) OF PAYMENT DO I ACCEPT?
I accept company checks drawn on U.S. funds.
WHY DO I REQUIRE 50% OF MY FEE IN ADVANCE?
A 50% deposit shows me that you are serious about the project at hand and about using my services to your advantage.
HOW DO MY PRICES COMPARE TO AD AGENCIES?
Overall, you could expect to pay an advertising agency four or
five times as much - at least. An ad agency has overhead and that
overhead costs money. In result, an agency will charge you far
more to cover its costs. I work out of my home, have little overhead
to speak of and pass the savings onto you. Many agencies also
don't have on-staff copywriters, so they farm the work out to
someone like me anyway and then mark it up.
HOW DO WE WORK TOGETHER?
Thanks to the Internet, I work with clients all over the world.
You're busy and so am I. I have found that a phone call or e-mail
usually yields the same results as a meeting. And since time is
money, it saves you in additional costs for my time. So all things
being equal, it's smarter for us to communicate this way. All
work is delivered right to your desktop in a Word attachment.
WHAT KIND OF TURNAROUND CAN YOU EXPECT ON COPYWRITING?
It really depends upon what's involved and my existing work
load. Sometimes, I can turn a project around in a matter of hours,
while larger more in-depth assignments can take longer. I generally
complete projects rather quickly. If you have a deadline to meet,
please let me know up front, and I'll do everything I can
to accommodate it without charging a rush fee (most copywriters
charge up to 50% rush fees).
WHAT IF YOU NEED A MAJOR REWRITE DUE TO A DIRECTION CHANGE?
When a project reaches the point that a rewrite is requested or
required because the project parameters, positioning or plans
changed, I will revise my original estimate for approval before
work can continue. Upon receiving and reviewing the requested
client corrections, I will notify you if it appears the project
has reached a major rewrite/redo point.
DO I RETURN ALL OF THE STUFF YOU GIVE TO ME?
Yes, client materials (documents, literature, CDs, Zip disks,
etc.) will be returned upon receipt of payment for the completed
project.
WHO OWNS THE WORK?
Upon completion and payment in full, ownership of the final product
is transferred to the client; however, I retain the right show
your work as part of my portfolio, either online or offline.
WHAT
ABOUT PROOFREADING AND ERRORS THAT GET PRINTED OR PRODUCED?
It is your responsibility to review all material prior to production
and to attest for its accuracy. I am certainly a perfectionist
and always plan on delivering errorless work, but I will not be
liable for production charges or legal cases related to any error
in copy, edited, or not.
WHAT OTHER SERVICES DO I OFFER BESIDES COPYWRITING?
Please see the services
page of this website. I specialize in copywriting
in every application imaginable; however, I am also an accomplished
creative consultant and production expert. My additional
skills include everything from brainstorming and concept development
to creative and production direction of design and production
crews for every kind of project.
